The Central Park NY Wedding of Jessica Rae and Philip

We often hear from clients who have planned lavish affairs about how they’re on a “budget”. This is a couple that was REALLY on a budget, and still they booked our services because they knew it was a special day. I think the results prove it was a wise decision 😉 Jessica and Philip had a very very small wedding planned. She just wanted her ceremony covered, because the reception was going to be an intimate sit down dinner with some close friends and family. The awesome unique part was the ceremony was going to be at Bethesda Terrace in Central Park NY, right under the terrace by the big fountain. What a gorgeous location. We worked out a customized 2 cam package, because all weddings benefit from 2 cam coverage but truly short small ceremonies REALLY come out better with the extra coverage of reactions etc. In a location with a lot of unknowns, and random people milling about, it was the best choice. Dave and I started with Jessica getting ready at her mom’s house. Then we drove into the city to capture Philip and his parents (no bridal party), and the ceremony. The ceremony was a very intimate gathering under the Terrace with family and friends standing and listening. In addition there were just strangers watching, but truly the world felt smaller for those few moments. It was beautiful. Quickly after the ceremony we got some great shots of the couple around that area. In addition to the raw footage, check out the complete video below that they received below. One of my favorite highlights.

Jasmine and Jonathan’s New York Wedding Video

Jasmine and Jonathan came to us absolutely enthused about our work. I loved meeting these guys and I’m so thrilled they booked immediately. I started out with Jasmine and the girls in Woodhaven NY, while Dave was with Jonathan and the guys in Newark NJ. Definitely good use of 2 camera coverage that day 😉 Their ceremony was at the Jesus Revival Church in Woodhaven, and what a unique and surprising ceremony it was. Just listen to their I do’s, in the “Getting Ready” clip. The whole ceremony was topped off with a duet by the bride and groom, who are both musicians.

Afterward we got some really cool shots at a nearby train station, and a nice little park before heading over to the reception at the Villa Russo – Il Palazzo in Richmond Hill NY. It was a unique place because it had a wrap around balcony that Dave was able to use for some really great overhead shots, especially when the crowd was out there dancing, but also during their special dances.

From the really sweet toasts to the last dance this was a special wedding, and you could just tell how much everyone loved Jasmine and Jonathan, and count us among those. A truly special couple and a beautiful day. Check out some clips here:

Truly great clients

Jasmine and Jonathan came in to meet with me several months ago about their wedding. They knew right away they wanted Creative Unlimited to capture their day, but money was tight and so they started off by booking us for 2 camera raw coverage to at least have amazing raw footage. If you’re on a budget, it’s the way to go, to ensure you still get a great video.

At the meeting Jonathan joked about getting a second job so he could upgrade to an edited package. A few weeks later he surprised me with a message to say that’s exactly what he did, he got a second job as a teacher’s assistant, and they wanted to upgrade their package. He was actually very happy about it, with the extra money from the second job, he was able to take care of all of the wedding bills, and even paid us in full early. I was like “Are you sure, you really don’t have to, the final balance isn’t due until 2 months after”, but Jonathan and Jasmine wanted no bills to pay after the wedding.

We get a lot of calls from people “on a budget” lately. Of course, everyone’s still having a dream wedding, but when it comes to video they’re “on a budget”. Jasmine and Jonathan said, we’re on a budget, but we’re going to do what we can to fit you into our budget. As much as any client we book with no complaints about the cost, these two were just a wonderful reminder that if you think it’s worth it, you’ll make it work. That goes for anything in life. I feel truly blessed to have such great clients, and I mean all my clients, but I definitely appreciate Jasmine and Jonathan working hard to have us be a part of their day.

Me, Jasmine, Jonathan and Dave

The wedding was this past Saturday, November 7th. Dave started a little earlier then me with Jonathan and the guys in Newark NJ. I started with Jasmine and the girls in Woodhaven, NY. Queens baby (I grew up in Flushing). It was a flurry of hair and makeup. I got some great outtakes of “teased” hair, haha. Wow it gets big. Jonathan stopped by to drop off rings (without seeing his bride), and told me they had a lot of fun with Dave at the house, and he got some crazy shots. Can’t wait to see that footage.

The Ceremony was at the Jesus Revival Church, also in Woodhaven. I overheard the pastor telling Jonathan about how that moment was like the world series, final game, top of the ninth, bases loaded, and Jonathan could win the series with his hit. Haha, of course a baseball analogy this time of year. The ceremony was very sweet, and provided a few laughs as Jonathan shouted “YES I DOOOO!!!” when asked, haha. Jasmine replied the same, they had everyone laughing. The couple also sang a beautiful song too, with some great harmonies. Really well done actually, they’re very musical.

We stopped at the J train station after the ceremony for some really cool shots by the turnstyles and on the platform, and then we went to a nearby park. Jonathan shared about how they walked all over the city when the were dating, just walking and talking, which prompted a walking and talking shot, haha. The reception was at Il Palazzo by Villa Russo in South Richmond Hill, NY. It provided us with some unique opportunities because of a wrap around balcony for their room, which Dave used to capture some great shots of their entrances, and first dance. He ran up there for the ChaCha slide too, haha. Nothing like aerial shots of line dancing.

Instead of the garter (although she did toss the boquet), the couple played a newlywed game with their shoes. They each held one of their own, and one of the other’s, and the DJ asked a few questions like “Who’s the better driver?, Who made the first move?, Who hogs the sheets?” and they would hold up her shoe or his, or sometimes both. It was cute, my first time seeing that game.

This couple was just a joy to be around. They are very happy together and were very happy to have us at the wedding. It was just a beautiful day. I really go out of my way to make every couple feel special, and somehow my clients always make me feel special too. Thanks guys, and congratulations.

Tatiana and Apollo’s Highlights from the Cavo Cafe Lounge

Here are the Highlights from Tatiana and Apollo’s wedding video. The reception was at the Cavo Cafe Lounge in Astoria, NY. We definitely travel all over. The ceremony was in Spanish and English, and the vows were in spanish. Thankfully I’m bilingual. They were a really fun couple, and the day went smoothly. It rained exactly after we were done with photos. How great is that? We showed their Digital Short at their reception (which you should also check out). Apollo is hilarious, Tatiana is just beautiful, and the whole day was really a great time. Here’s what Tatiana has to say:
“the video is awesome! we got it and watched it yesterday and loved it… there are a few corrections in spelling that need to be done, aside from that everything is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you did an awesome job! Thank you. – Tatiana”
